Meet the Artist – Priyanka Kar
I am Priyanka Kar, a sculptor from Kolkata, West Bengal, India, and the proud founder of Tathastu. My artistic journey has always been one of passion, exploration, and deep dedication to sculpting.
In 2009, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Sculpture from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, followed by a Master of Visual Arts (MVA) in Sculpture from the prestigious Govt. College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, in 2013. These formative years helped shape my vision and enhance my artistic skills.
My fascination with the cultural and artistic heritage of Kolkata led to my research on “Open Air Sculpture in Kolkata” in 2013. This allowed me to delve into the intricate relationship between public art and urban aesthetics, which continues to inspire my sculptural projects.
Over the years, I have participated in numerous exhibitions, art workshops, and collaborative sculptural projects, earning recognition for my work in both contemporary and traditional sculpture forms.
The Birth of Tathastu
Founded in 2013, Tathastu emerged as a reflection of my unwavering commitment to artistic excellence and innovation in the field of sculpture. With a vision to create sculptures that not only enhance the environment but also evoke emotion, Tathastu has delivered some of the most remarkable public and private projects blending heritage, craftsmanship, and creativity.
